— I need to make travel arrangements. When will the conference start and end?
—Registration/check-in opens on Friday, October 10, at 3:00 p.m. and the conference officially kicks off with our welcome banquet at 6:00 p.m. Workshops begin at 9 AM on Saturday and 8 AM on Sunday. The conference will conclude on Sunday, October 12 , at approximately 2:00 p.m. See the conference schedule for more details.
— I'm flying into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. How far away is the conference hotel and what's the best way to get there?
—The Hilton Bellevue Hotel, located in downtown Bellevue (east of Seattle), is about 30-40 minutes north of SeaTac. If you need ground transportation, Shuttle Express is an affordable option.
— How do I reserve a suite/room at the conference hotel?
— Reservations are available via the Hilton website, with Group/Convention Code: ECW. The conference rate is $124 for a king or double/double. You can also contact the Hilton Bellevue Hotel directly by calling 1-425-455-1300 to place your reservation — be sure to mention that you’re registering for the Emerald City Writer's Conference or use Group/Convention Code: ECW.
— I registered online over a week ago, and I haven't received confirmation my registration was received. Who should I contact?
— For all registration questions or if you have not received confirmation of your registration within a few days, please contact the Registration Chair.
— I would like to bring a guest to one or more of the conference meals, how do I request extra meal tickets?
— Unfortunately, we do not have the space to accommodate additional guests. Meals are open to conference attendees only.
— How do I register for the workshops I want to attend?
— Your conference registration entitles you to attend any workshop you choose. Seating is open.
— What should I wear to the conference?
— Attire is typically business casual. Layering can be advantageous as workshop rooms vary. The average temperature in early October for the beautiful Seattle area is 60.
— I plan to pitch my manuscript to an editor or agent. Are the appointments individual or group sessions?
— So that we can accommodate all the editor/agent appointment requests, the appointments are group sessions. Typically, the groups are comprised of 4 to 5 conference attendees and each person has 3 to 4 minutes to make his/her pitch.
— I'm speaking at the conference. Who do I contact if I have questions?
