Hello Greater Seattle Romance Writers,

Starting October 25, best-selling romance writer Susan Wiggs will be teaching a course at Field's End, a writers' organization affiliated with the nonprofit Bainbridge Public Library. The course is titled "The Story Within: Structuring Your Fiction."

Though not specific to romance writing, this class is "for any writer who has felt that flash of inspiration--the one that kept her pacing the floors at night or drove him from the couch to the computer-and is ready to take the next step on the journey of the working storyteller," Susan says. "The only prerequisite is a simple one: a vision of a scene, a character, a plot, a situation, or a compelling premise that inspires in you enthusiasm."

Participants will explore their own story ideas from the ground up, discover the story within, and begin shaping it into an emotionally resonant work of fiction. Susan will use lectures, discussions, creativity exercises, readings, and small-group critiquing workshops to help participants examine the mythic underpinnings of story, basic narrative structure, and the day-to-day process of bringing your fiction to life.

This 10-hour course meets five Mondays, Oct. 25 - Nov. 22, from
7:15 - 9:15 p.m. at the Bainbridge Public Library,1270 Madison Avenue North. Cost is $200, and the class is limited to 60 participants (first-come basis).

Field's End has started accepting applications for this course, and we thought your membership might be interested. Since offering its first writing classes three years ago, Field's End has attracted students from throughout the Puget Sound region. The quality of our instructors and courses makes the ferry ride worthwhile.

We'd appreciate you letting your members know about this course. More information about Field's End, the class, and Susan, as well as a downloadable registration form, are available at www.fieldsend.org.

Thank you!

Cordially,

Nikki Vick
